Tigernuts (or chufas) are small, mighty tubers that go back millennia.
Naturally sweet, gluten-free, tree nut-free, and grain-free, they're incredibly versatile.
In Valencia, they’re traditionally enjoyed in the form of horchata valenciana: a creamy, refreshing beverage of tigernut milk.
That’s where the founder, Andrea, first fell in love – as a student, she discovered horchata through her host family and was instantly hooked.
After learning from local horchatería owners, food scientists, and family-run tigernut farms and suppliers, she began experimenting in her own kitchen.
One batch turned into another, and soon, Tigernola was born. Inspiration turned to intention – passion matured into purpose.
Valencia Moon began as an idea in San Diego, took roots in Cambridge, and became a love letter to Andrea's beloved Valencia. Tigernola is a tribute to her host mother Marite, to her mentors at Vachata, La Torrentina, L'Obrador de Bou, to Valencia, her soul city .
